1. R. Kelly "Chocolate Factory"
For the past year I've pretty much listened to this record every single day in the 15 minuets before we play a show. It?s one of those records that makes you want to smile and dance no matter if you?re alone in your bedroom or in the middle of the street in New Jersey.
2. The Clash "Sandinista"
This is a great record to listen to on really really long drives because of the sheer girth of it(40 ish songs, 3 records). I?ve owned Sandinista for almost 3 years and every time I listen to it I discover an amazing song that I had not previously gotten to.
3. Neal Young "Silver and Gold"
If you are really really jetlagged and it's 4 in the morning in a foreign country and the only thing you can do is wander around town like a zombie and watch businessmen commute to work, this is the record to listen to whilst doing so. Delicate songwriting, lyrics that are honest without sounding trite, you couldn't ask for more in a soundtrack to a pre-dawn romp about town.
4. The Killers "Hot Fuss"
This band is a serious guilty pleasure for me. One of my favorite things to do on tour ever is ride around on my bike and sing along to this record. It's immediately gratifying and undeniably catchy.
5. 2-Pac "All Eyez on Me"
every touring vagrant's journey needs a healthy dose of Thug Passion.
